Cookie Notice and Consent: A General Overview for Website Owners
What cookies are, when consent may be required, and what a fair banner usually includes.
Pick the policy you need, answer a few questions, and copy or download it — free, no account needed. Add a paid clause and it is hosted at a stable URL that stays current as the law moves, with every version kept on the record.
Or see all 8 policiesNo card required to build your documents. Policy Monster is not a law firm.
A policy is only true on the day it is written. The interesting problem is the day after — which is the one this product is built around.
There is no master template with your name dropped into blanks. Each document is built clause by clause from a versioned library, so a clause that does not apply to you simply is not there.
When a clause is revised, every affected policy is regenerated and republished. You get an email explaining what changed and why — not a nudge telling you to go and fix it yourself.
Each publication is immutable and timestamped. When someone asks what your policy said on 12 March, that is a link, not an afternoon in your inbox.
The questions are the only part that needs you. Everything after them is automatic.
Privacy policy, terms, cookie policy, refunds and more. You answer only the questions that policy needs.

Plain questions about your business, with a note on why each one matters. Any paid clause shows its price beside the answer.

Copy the HTML, or download HTML, Markdown, text, PDF or Word. A policy with paid clauses can also be hosted at a permanent link that is updated for you.

Pick one, answer a few questions about your business, then copy or download it. Specialist clauses are priced up front, before you pay anything.
Tell us what your site does and the matching clauses are added — nothing generic, and nothing that does not apply.

Served from a cache-first CDN that stays up even when the rest of the platform does not. Your live policy is the one page that must never 500.
Every policy with paid clauses can be hosted — no subscription. Point your website footer at a stable Policy Monster URL. When a clause is revised, we regenerate every affected document, publish the new version, and email you a diff of exactly what changed.
Policy Monster covers the EU (GDPR), the UK (UK GDPR) and California (CCPA/CPRA). That is the whole list, and we would rather say so here than let you find out later.
Every jurisdiction is a permanent maintenance commitment, not a checkbox. We add one when we can keep it reviewed and current — not when it would look good on a comparison table.
Not yet covered: PIPEDA, LGPD, POPIA, and the other US state privacy laws. If your business needs those today, Policy Monster is not the right tool yet.
Every policy is free to create, copy and download. Specialist clauses — GDPR, CCPA, analytics, payments — are priced individually from $14, paid once per policy, and a paid policy is hosted for you. No plans, no subscriptions.
Added only when your answers need them. Prices are shown next to each answer before you pay anything.
When your answers need no paid clause.
When your answers add a specialist clause.
Yes. Every policy is free to create, copy and download. Some specialist clauses — GDPR, CCPA, analytics, payments and similar — are paid once per policy, from $14, and only if your answers need them. A policy with paid clauses can also be hosted at a permanent link, with no subscription.
Not for a free policy: you can create one as a guest. An account is needed to pay for clauses, to host a policy, or to come back and edit it later.
Yes. Copy the HTML into a page on your site, or download it as HTML, Markdown, plain text or PDF.
Yes, for a policy with paid clauses: hosting comes with it, at a permanent URL you link from your footer. When its clauses are revised it is regenerated and republished, and every version stays on the record. Free policies are copied or downloaded.
Yes. Select where your customers are — the EU, the UK or California — and the matching sections are added. Coverage today is exactly those three.
No. Policy Monster is not a law firm and does not give legal advice. It assembles documents from your answers; for advice about your own situation, speak to a qualified lawyer.
